Arrigo Cappelletti retraces the life of one of the most complex and mysterious personalities in the history of jazz. Born in Montreal in 1932, Paul Bley is considered a pivotal figure in the last fifty years of jazz. Honing his talent in the bands of Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Ben Webster, Charles Mingus, Sonny Rollins and Jimmy Giuffre, he is an advocate of improvisation, and has always favored free jazz. He has recorded over 120 CDs with jazz icons such as Ornette Coleman, Chet Baker, Gary Peacock, Lee Konitz, John Scofield, John Abercrombie, Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorius.
